If you’ve received the “you’ve reached the weekly invitation limit” message when adding a connection on LinkedIn, you’re probably wondering how you can get past it. This article will explain exactly how you can do that.

What is the LinkedIn Connection Limit?
LinkedIn has implemented a weekly invitation limit of 100-200 invites per week, a significant reduction from the previous 700 invites per week (100 per day) limit. This change has greatly impacted prospecting methods – especially for sales and recruiters. You can find the exact guidelines here.
However, there are still ways to work around this limitation (which we’ll cover below). By using certain techniques, you can still manage to contact up to 300-500 people on LinkedIn every week.
When Does the LinkedIn Connection Limit Restart?
The LinkedIn connection limit resets every seven days from the date when you sent your first invitation. For example, if you sent your first invitation on a Wednesday at 2 PM, your limit will reset the following Wednesday at 2 PM.
It’s important to keep track of this reset date to avoid going over the weekly limit and potentially getting penalized by LinkedIn (although, you’ll most likely just see the message above). By staying within the connection limit, you can continue to build your network and grow your opportunities on the platform.
2 Solutions to Bypass the LinkedIn Connection Limit:
Here are two different ways to bypass the LinkedIn connection limits:
1. Connect With Open Profiles Thorugh InMails
Connecting with open profiles on LinkedIn through InMail is a great way to reach out to potential connections who may not have their profile set to accept connection requests. To send an InMail to an open profile, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the profile of the person you want to connect with and click on the “More” button below their name.
- Select “Message” and then choose “InMail” from the dropdown menu.
- Write a personalized message to the person, explaining why you want to connect with them and how you could potentially help each other.
- Send the InMail and wait for a response.
When crafting your InMail message, it’s important to be professional, courteous, and specific. Avoid using generic messages or templates, as they can come across as spammy and decrease the likelihood of getting a response. Instead, take the time to research the person and their background, and tailor your message accordingly. Here are a few of our own tips to increase your success rate when sending LinkedIn InMail messages.
By using InMail to connect with open profiles on LinkedIn, you can expand your network and potentially uncover new opportunities for collaboration and growth. Just remember to always follow LinkedIn’s policies and guidelines for InMail usage to avoid any penalties or negative impacts on your account.

2. Use an Automation Tool
Using an automation tool can help you bypass the LinkedIn connection limits. At We-Connect, the safest and most advanced tool for LinkedIn automation and prospecting, we can boost your action limit to 700 per week. We count an “action” as any task that is automated, such as sending a connection request, withdrawing invites, endorsing a contact, or viewing a profile (yes, we help you automate all these things).
Find some of our favorite automation tools here.
We, recommend sending up to 500 connection requests weekly and reserving about 200 actions for other tasks. However, if you only want to send only connection requests, you can, by all means, send 700 connections request per week. Our solution works with the basic (free) LinkedIn account, LinkedIn Premium, Sales Navigator, and Recruiter lite.
Here is how it works:
Log in to your We-Connect account, head over to campaigns, and start a new campaign to “invite new connections”. From there you can set your daily invite limit, message the new contact, and schedule when We-Connect will automate the action.
What Doesn’t Work:
The “invite by email” feature was a great hack, but In August 2022, LinkedIn removed the following two essential features:
- Sending invitations via email
- Uploading CSV files to send invitations.
As a result, the “Invite by email” feature no longer works. The ability to send cold emails to LinkedIn members from within your LinkedIn automation tool is an excellent convenience – however, it’s not an effective way to grow your LinkedIn connections.
Alternatives like sending LinkedIn connection requests to group members and InMails to Open profile members are outstanding ways to supplement your LinkedIn outreach. Still, they do not compensate for the number of leads lost due to LinkedIn connections limit. For that reason, our top choice is to use and automation tool like We-Connect
