Profile Optimization

Your LinkedIn Featured section is the one spot on your profile where you decide what people see first. Instead of hoping visitors scroll through your activity, you pin your best proof right below your About section: a case study, a lead magnet, a booking link, or your strongest post.
The LinkedIn Featured section is a profile section where you can pin posts, LinkedIn articles, external links, and media like PDFs or images. It sits below your About section, and it only appears once you add something to it. Use it to show the people checking your profile exactly what you want them to see, and what to do next.
This guide covers what the Featured section is, where to find it, what to add, examples by role, and how to add, edit, reorder, and remove items.
The Featured section is a curated space on your profile for content you choose. Your Activity section shows whatever you posted most recently. Featured shows what you want people to see, in the order you choose, regardless of when you posted it.
That makes it one of the most useful sections on your profile, and one of the most overlooked. Many profiles don’t have one at all.

The Featured section sits on your profile below your About section. If you can’t find it, it’s because you haven’t added anything yet. LinkedIn only shows the section once it has at least one item.
To add it, go to your profile, click Add profile section, choose Recommended, then Add featured.
When someone gets your connection request or message, they often click through to your profile before replying. Your headline and About section tell them what you do. Your Featured section can show them proof, and give them an easy next step.
A prospect who sees a relevant case study, a useful guide, or a “book a call” link has a reason to reply. A prospect who sees nothing has to take your word for it.
It’s also one of the few places on your profile where you can send visitors to an outside page, like your website, a lead magnet, or a booking page, with a clickable link.
You can feature four types of content on your LinkedIn profile:
For links and media, you can edit the title and description displayed on the card. Posts and articles, however, retain their original content.
Start with your goal. What do you want someone to do after visiting your profile?

Keep your Featured section to three to five items. The first few appear upfront, so place your most important item first.
Sales / Account Executive
Founder
Marketer
Recruiter
Consultant or Agency Owner
Freelancer
Job Seeker or Student

Once the section exists, you can add more items with the + icon at the top of your Featured section.
To add a link, click the + icon in your Featured section, choose Links, paste the URL, then edit the title and description so they say what the visitor gets, for example “Free LinkedIn outreach checklist” rather than the page’s default title.
To add a PDF or image, click +, choose Media, and upload the file. Give it a clear title and a one-line description.
Click the pencil (Edit) icon at the top of your Featured section to open your full Featured page. From there:
Your Featured section works best when it backs up what your profile already says.
Your headline says who you help. Your Featured items should show you doing it. See our LinkedIn headline examples.
Your About section can point to Featured as the next step, for example “See my Featured section for client results.” Here’s how to write a LinkedIn summary.
Your experience lists results. Featured is where you can show them in full with a case study or sample. Here’s how to write your LinkedIn experience section.
Your skills say what you’re good at. Featured items prove it. See the best skills to put on LinkedIn.
Your photo and banner are the first things people see before they scroll down to Featured. See our LinkedIn profile picture guide and LinkedIn banner guide.

A strong Featured section works best on a profile that’s strong everywhere else. The free LinkedIn Profile Score checks the six sections prospects look at first: your photo, banner, headline, summary, experience, and skills. Paste your profile URL and get a score out of 100, with your two Priority sections flagged first. It’s free, instant, and needs no sign-up.
If those sections need work, the We-Connect Profile Optimizer rewrites your headline, summary, and experience with AI, enhances your photo, and generates a new banner. Nothing goes live until you approve it.
For a quick review of every section, use our LinkedIn profile checklist.
What is the Featured section on LinkedIn?
It’s a section on your profile where you pin posts, LinkedIn articles, external links, and media you want visitors to see. It sits below your About section.
Where is the Featured section on LinkedIn?
Below your About section. If you don’t see it, you haven’t added anything yet. Click Add profile section, then Recommended, then Add featured.
What can you add to the LinkedIn Featured section?
Your LinkedIn posts, LinkedIn articles, external links, and uploaded media such as images, PDFs, and presentations.
How many items should I add to my Featured section?
Three to five is enough for most people. Put your most important item first, since the first few are what visitors see without scrolling.
Can I add my resume to my LinkedIn Featured section?
Yes. Upload it as a PDF using the Media option. If you use LinkedIn for sales or client work, a case study or lead magnet is usually a better use of the space.
Can I edit the title of a Featured item?
For links and media, yes. Click the pencil icon on your Featured section and open the item to edit it. Posts and articles show their original content.
How do I remove something from my Featured section?
Click the pencil icon on your Featured section, then click Remove from featured under the item.
Is there a free way to check if my LinkedIn profile is strong?
Yes. We-Connect’s free LinkedIn Profile Score rates your photo, banner, headline, summary, experience, and skills out of 100 and shows which sections to fix first. No sign-up needed.
Your LinkedIn Featured section is the easiest way to control what people see when they check your profile. Pick three to five items that prove what your headline claims, lead with your strongest one, and include a clear next step like a booking link or free resource.
Once your profile is ready, put it to work. We-Connect helps you automate personalized LinkedIn outreach with the LinkedIn Lead Engine and AI Assist so the people who check your profile also hear from you.
